"Sometimes you have to cut through endless, oozing layers of shit to get to the yummy center" - Reynolds
Yea.
It occurs to me that, in questioning why a Democratically controlled Congress is still ball-less regarding Iraq (56% of Americans regardless of partisanship wanting out now; exponentially greater numbers of Democrats/liberals wanting the same), the answer is right there for all of us to ingest, digest, process and shit out: a massive majority is only ignored in a democratic state that's gone bone-sucking corrupt. That's it. Ain't no other answer.
There are no mysteries in waking, human-to-human life. There are reasons why everyone does whatever they do. So don't scratch your head over why Democrats, enthusiastically put into power by a populace exhuasted by 4 years of war, on the precipice of ever-billowing party numbers should they do a fuck-simple thing like intelligently cutting Iraq's war funding or setting teeth into some resolution or other, will not do it:
- Power
- Wealth
- Prestige
- Status
- Privilege
Those are the reasons why Dems listen to war-maddened lobbyists and not constituents - or the broader base of American people. They're in love with money and things, houses, the best college for junior, access to the hallowed realms where everyone from famous actors to world-stage players waits to shower them with gifts and inestimable patronage. Swag bags at the Oscars? Ha! They're literally piss in a jar, compared to what an American politican who's willing to handjob Blackwater or Halliburton or Custer Battles or Bechtel or whoever the hell you can name can rake in via a war that didn't have to happen...or...did have to happen, if the right people were gonna get stinking motherfucking rich. Some of those people claim to be our representatives.
Country simple.
So when you read about seeming intractability regarding this or that ignoring of "the people are demanding it via 120% margins!" polls, well, just keep in mind that "Iago is whispering in their ears, and his tongue is coated with dollars" (Reynolds).
Indeed.
